training for the 3rd sector, Management courses for
the 3rd sector. 3rd Sector management.
Reflex provide FREE Third Sector
management training resources. . . Why am I
doing this, and what is the catch?
First, the
purely altruistic reason. I believe
that if more people learned to manage
each other in the style advocated in
this material the world would be a
better place.
Second, the
intellectual reason. In the
Internet world anything that can be
digitised and made available
automatically becomes free. You can try
to protect information with copyright
laws and clever software, but determined
people can always find a way round these
defences, and the cost of trying to
enforce protection is prohibitive.
Besides, this material is based on pure
common sense. You can’t copyright common
sense.
Third, the
socio-economic reason. It has been clear
to everyone since late 2008 that the
model of business economics we have
grown up with has, to say the least, a
few fundamental flaws. Call me an old
hippie if you like, but I think there
are better ways of using and creating
wealth. Some of these are being
pioneered by the third sector, but so
far no radically different style of
transaction has been developed.
The approach
I want to develop is as follows:
I give
something of value to you. It does not
have a price (I give it rather than sell
it) but it does have a value. Its value
is determined by your circumstances, not
mine. Its value is the difference it
makes to your quality of life.
(If you are
not very adept at people-management,
these techniques could make a great
difference to your psychological
well-being, and to anybody you manage.
This means my gift has great value to
you. If, on the other hand, you already
use these techniques, or fail to learn
from the material, the gift has no value
to you. If you take this material and
use it for private purposes either as an
individual or in a corporate context,
then the value is even greater. I have
no problems with people “stealing” this
material, because it is priceless.
Theft would
only be a problem If I were
seeking to keep this
information to myself, and
making it available for a
fee. As I am giving it away
to the public domain I would
envisage that theft and
resale will become more and
more difficult).

What I would like you to do?
1. If you can afford
it, make a donation to cover the costs
of this site. The material made
available here would normally retail at
between £8 and £25. A donation would be
nice, but is not mandatory.
2. More importantly,
place a link to this site onto your
website. There are two reasons for doing
this. Firstly it helps to make this site
more easily found by internet search
engines, thus increasing the
availability of the free material.
Secondly, it could provide you with
extra income. By making the material
freely available to organizations which
do not have much money I am also making
it freely available to organizations
which do have money.
I am seeking to
activate the conscience of moneyed
organizations by encouraging them to
consider giving direct assistance to the
Third Sector.
If your organization creates a link to
this site I will place your website
reference in a list of third sector
organizations. Just send an
email giving
your web addressonce you have
created the link.
Reflex Training will
not broker any communication between
organizations other than by providing
the contact reference. The list of Third
Sector website addresses will be
randomized on a regular basis to ensure
fair visibility to
potential donors.
3. Tell as many other
Third Sector organizations as you can
about this site. Send emails or include
a mention in any newsletter.
The more people can
manage their human resources as if they
were people, the better the world will
be.
The costs of
establishing and maintaining this site
can be covered by advertising. A website
is attractive to advertisers if it has a
significant number of visitors and
referrals from other sites. You can help
in two ways:
Tell as
many people and organisations as you
can that this site is available.
Send an email to ten or more people
incorporating
www.reflextraining.co.uk as a
hyperlink.
Place
the following link on your own
website
www.reflextraining.co.uk
or visit our
links page for more advertising
options.
Any Third
Sector organisation placing a link on
their own site will in turn have their
website listed here for potential
donors.
The list
will be randomised weekly to ensure a
fair chance for all participating
organisations. [top]
